Background
Somos Votantes is a Latino-led civic engagement organization running large independent voter and community programs nationwide. With thousands of social media followers, they amplify voices on public sector and civic life, a mission that aligns directly with Switchboard Live's commitment to accessibility, transparency, and civic participation.
The Challenge
On Monday, Somos Votantes contacted Switchboard Live with an urgent need: they had only days to prepare a major Zoom livestream town hall with the U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D‑NV). The event, Voces de la Comunidad, would tackle the rising cost of living and its impact on working families, a major topic among the constituents in the region.
To maximize the reach of this event, the livestream had to reach not only Somos Votantes’ own channels, but also the accounts of multiple Latino creators, influencers, and civic organizations. This would help get the livestream and its information across to more people (good), but it also multiplied the complexity of the project under a tight deadline (...not good).
