X has recently rolled out new requirements for live streaming. As of July 14th, 2024, you must have a Premium or Premium+ subscription to go live.

Let’s look into what this means, and what you can do to keep your livestreams running smoothly:

Keep in mind:

  • If you already have an X Premium, X Premium+, or Verified (Basic or Full Access) account, you should have no issues when streaming with Switchboard or any other encoders with an X integration.
  • If you recently upgraded your X account to a Premium or Premium+ it may take a few days for your review and verification from X to become effective, which may represent momentary interruptions when streaming to X. However, your streams to other destinations will remain working as usual.

Getting X Premium and Premium+

  1. If you haven’t got one already, you can sign up for an X Premium or Premium+ account at: https://verified.x.com. Follow the instructions on the page to verify your account.
  1. Next, you can follow these steps to connect your account to Switchboard.
  1. You are now ready to multistream to X, and as many other destinations as you need.

Going Live on X With a Verified Organization Account

If you are part of a Verified Organization on X you may already be eligible to stream under the new requirements. All verified accounts (on both a Basic or Full Access plan) include Premium+ features, including the ability to stream live. Accounts belonging to a government organization, organizations in the Public Sector, or any other groups eligible for a Verified Organization can subscribe to this plan.
